Association for prisoners’ rights Askatasuna denounces tortures in Peio Alcantarilla’s arrest

The arrested tried to commit suicide swallowing his own braces to asphyxiate himself.

According to the account by the association Askatasuna, Peio Alcantarilla was, from the moment he was arrested last Sunday, tortured, threatened and battered while he was under solitary confinement.

Five days in police headquarters in which Alcantarilla was, as Askatasuna has informed, battered hardly. Up to the point that he tried to commit suicide to avoid new beatings.

Alcantarilla swallowed his own braces to asphyxiate. The corrector was trapped in his throat and he started to vomit blood. According to this account, the Police agents had latex gloves and truncheons.

For Sozialista Abertzaleak left nationalist party, solitary confinement allows the Police to carry out tortures. This report will be presented in the Basque chamber and they will try to win the chamber members’ support. According to Sozialista Abertzaleak, the Parliament has much to say in this human rights violation.
